Beware of The Cheap DJ with Bait and Switch Pricing

At Groovy Sound Productions, we provide quality and value at a reasonable price. We often lose business to guys that put a LOW number in front of a prospective client and then charge extra money for the things that we feel should be included in the price.

Many of our competitors charge extra money for: Microphones, extra speakers, speakers, ability to take requests, backup equipment, set up fees, take down of equipment fees, and "by the minute pricing".

Does your DJ bring backup equipment to the venue?

One thing that always surprises me about the competition is their neglect to address equipment failures. Yes, equipment failures are rare and hopefully if your DJ buys quality computers and equipment this will not be a concern for you.

We've heard that many of OUR COMPETITORS CHARGE EXTRA MONEY FOR BACKUP EQUIPMENT.  Really? My question to our competition is...You charge your customers extra money to ensure that your equipment works?

That is NOT A PROBLEM WITH GROOVY SOUND PRODUCTIONS!!!!!

November 5th Fashion Show at Lasting Bridal Couture

Last Thursday I had the pleasure of DJing another Bridal Fashion Show at Lasting Bridal Couture in Addison.

We started at 6:30pm but we had a full house by 6pm. Just enough seats so please RSVP for the January 7th Fashion show. I'm sure Lasting Bridal Couture will have lots of new styles so get there early. I played mostly current Top 40 with a few Michael Buble songs from his new CD (which is awesome by the way). Delicious Cakes brought a cake to taste and Paul opened up a few bottles of bubbly.

Dinner Music to enjoy your food

Depending on what type of event you are hosting, dinner music should try to match the event or the personality of the event.  When I DJ weddings, some of my favorite artists I play before the cake cutting include:

Local: David Carr Jr.

Traditional: Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble, Diana Krall, Sade, Norah Jones, Steve Tyrell, Somewhere in Time soundtrack

Eclectic: Thievery Corporation, Gypsy Kings, Natalia Clavier, Enya, Suzanne Vega

Where does Groovy Sound Productions get their music?

Some of our clients ask about our music library (I like to call them Music assets since we spend money on them and we own them) and how current we keep our collection. There are several subscription services where we purchase music and music videos: Promo Only, ERG, and Funkymix. Those companies require that you are a working DJ and provide proof in order to subscribe.
